Who We Are

Our Civic Engagement

Our mission: “Informed by faith and fact, Lewinsville Faith in Action, in partnership with others, works for political, social, economic and environmental policies that are based on justice and compassion.” Our community actions focus on electoral politics and legislation, non-partisan redistricting, the environment, gun control and immigration and refugee issues. We seek to align with other faith-based progressive organizations.

Our Faith

Our work is transactional, providing opportunities for us to live our values through positive actions. Our work is transformational, deepening our spiritual understanding of how people of faith should act in times such as these. A loving God calls on us to love our neighbors as ourselves and to care for God’s creation. This informs our role as progressives in faith to care for the “least of these,” seeking fairness and decency in public policy.

Our Background

We are women and men inspired by the Women’s March in January 2017. Afterwards, we felt a need to find strong support from other like-minded souls to continue on the path of seeking moral justice and helping to preserve our Constitutional freedoms. We have become an organized grass-roots resistance group which welcomes progressives of all faiths in the northern Virginia area. Any group can organize and resist, and our message is…

INFORMED BY FAITH AND FACT

WE ARE A BELOVED COMMUNITY

TOGETHER WE ARE MORE POWERFUL

More Information

Position Papers

Lewinsville Faith in Action has written a position paper for each of its identified critical issues: environment and climate change, electoral politics and democracy protection, gun violence prevention, and immigration. This provides the policy framework for our individual and collective actions.

Faith in Action

Lewinsville Faith in Action members stay educated and aware of current affairs by reading widely and sharing our opinions with each other and our wider audiences. This is important work for all our calls to action. Follow our faithful actions (blogs, letters to the editor, other opinion pieces) here.
